Animated Atrocities #26: Trenchbillies (SpongeBob SquarePants)

In my Feast of Alvis review, I said that I’d have to review more hate speech atrocities. You were probably thinking about Family Guy, and yes, we’ll get to the monsters that show has created later, but here’s a piece of hate speech from a network that you would think wouldn’t allow this kind of shit: Nickelodeon. Yes, the network that had such touching classics like As Told By Ginger, Avatar, Danny Phantom, Catscratch, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, and many more, let
Admirable Animation #19: Muscle Mentor (Regular Show)

Rigby is one of my favorite cartoon characters of all time, with his main competition being Ginger Foutley, Maka Albarn, Rainbow Dash, Courage, Naruto, Son Gohan, and Corneil. He has a lot of maturity problems but through the course of the series he actually confronts those problems and grows as a character. He becomes less rash and more patient, less selfish and more caring. Even in his worst episodes, he’ll still come through for other people when he needs to. In this way, he’s similar to Ickis and Daggett,
Animated Atrocities #18: Balance of Flour (The Fairly OddParents)
This show used to be awesome. When I was ten, this was my favorite Nicktoon, before Barnyard and The Secret Show came on, before I discovered Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Rocko’s Modern Life, As Told By Ginger, KaBlam!, and Corneil and Bernie, and before I was old enough to appreciate the utter brilliancy of Avatar, Skyland, and Danny Phantom. This show was really imaginative and had a lot of really funny lines. It also knew how to make the same joke multiple times in an episode: you put the same line in different contexts, so that each time it comes across differently. And th
Animated Atrocities #15: Grilled Cheese Deluxe (Regular Show)
I’m not sure if this is my least favorite episode of Regular Show, but if it’s not number one, it’s certainly number two, and it’s definitely bad enough to be an atrocity. Yes, I know I just did an Admirable Animation on that show, and there will be plenty more for it, but I have to burn at least a few episodes as atrocities. So, let’s get started.
The episode begins with Mordecai at the computer, and Rigby brings in a bag that has cheese sandwiches that he just bought that for some reason have olives on top of them. They begin eating, and Rigby̵
Admirable Animation #14: That’s My Television (Regular Show)

You can call me a fantard all you want, it’s not true. Anyway, this isn’t my favorite episode of Regular Show. It’s not even in the top ten, and it may not even be in the top twenty. However, it’s probably one of the most relevant episodes of the series. A recent trend I’ve seen in books is that there HAS to be some kind of bittersweet ending. The three most recent successes in sci-fi are all guilty of this: The Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Maze Runner. Hunger Games ends wi
Animated Atrocities #11: Sandy's Rocket (SpongeBob SquarePants)
When the infamous episode A Pal For Gary came out, a lot of people complained that SpongeBob had never acted that stupid before. I beg to differ. SpongeBob has always been stupid, and this very early episode is proof of that. It's also proof that Sandy's always been a scientist, but that's not of concern to me.
The episode begins with a title card with catchy rock music that doesn't fit the hell that awaits us. SpongeBob runs over to Sandy's treedome, knocks on the door several times, and yells, "Hey Sandy" multiple times in a row. And people wonder why this character annoys me
Animated Atrocities #2: Mr. Pickles Pilot

There is a right way and a wrong way to do black comedy. This... thing... is a very WRONG way of doing it. It is pure sadism at worst and a poor attempt to recreate SuperJail at best.
This is a pilot for an as-of-this-writing upcoming Adult Swim show about a border collie who's a sexually deviant serial killer. In other words, this is a comedy about a villain. That's certainly worked before (think Invader Zim and Frisky Dingo), but the key to such shows is to make the villain comedic. That's not what this... thing... does at all.
